New DIY Power Wall plus Solar

Hello!

For my first project I started collecting 18650s from Laptops and Industrial Scanners and got already 560 cells which I am testing now.

I plan to have a 7S80P as my first one, which I want to enlarge later (after learning a lot) to 14S.

After I have build my own spotwelder I plan to put packs together, negative side spotwelded with Nickel. positive side soldered with fuse wire.

Metal rack with fireproof sheetrock (hope the right word for it).


I did not find an answer about the capacity difference between cells in one pack.

How much difference between the single 18650 is acceptable? Whats your experience here?

At the moment I sort my cells in boxes with 200mA steps like 1200-1399, 1400-1599, 1600 - 1799 etc.

First of all capacity is meassured in mAh and not mA that is current Wink

I sort based on 100mAh steps. That have proven to pan out well for my packs so far.

Tips: Go 14s directly. You dont earn anything starting 7s more than having to buy more equipment in terms of 24 vs 48VDC.
