14s Pack Size NOW 15S 100P
#1
Hello everyone
I have been working on a 18650 14S setup for over a year....   Takes time LOL
things I have now
1) cell holders for 14S 120 P
2) 1.5 amp Axail fuses
3) 14G solid copper wire ( bus bars )
4) about 1500 good cells ( 2100mah to 3100mah) most of them are in the 2300-2500mah range ( I have another 1300 or so from 1500mah to 2000mah that are tested )

Tools that I'm using
1) 10 Opus units ( testing units for MAH reading )
2) 10 Accucell 50watt Chargers ( pre chargers and Ohm testing )
3) 2 -Power Lab 8 units ( for when I need 60 amp charging..... LOL  ) balances 7s 60p rails for testing the batteries
before they set 30 to 40 day to see if I have any discharging cells

Now

what size packs should I do ???    I want to use the batuirm BMS ( don't have the BMS yet )
twin 14s 60P     or make 14S 80P /100P /120P ???
I want the longmons to do there job....   So if I go 100P or 120P can a longmon keep that balanced ???

I'm to the point of building if I go 60P / 80P or 100P
want to get it right the first time around...
What do you guys think works best with the Longmons ???

Thanks Avery !

If you have the cells for it, go for 120p. Smaller packs will likely require more maintenance and increase the amount of Batrium longmons you need to buy. A longmon should have no problem balancing a 120p pack. If you find it's balancing constantly due to pack voltages not matching, there is an issue with your batteries, such as a self-discharging cell.

I started with 120p and even that wasn't big enough for me so now I'm doing 300p, although I would probably recommend 2 longmons/pack if you go that route with used cells Smile

Ya ….   300P WOW …   What is your avg. cell MAH in that pack ????

I just need to get up and running at this point. Once I have one 14s unit up and running I can start saving some money... That's why I asked the above...   I can do the 80P NOW...  and I think I could do the 100P in 30 days . I just need to check the cells that I just finished testing for self-discharging ( witch is enough to do a 14s 60P )…   I'm sure I will have 80% that are good with the testing that has all ready been done on this last group.  I know all this cell testing cost money.

Pics ...

ok

Just an UPDATE !!!
After talking to many people here … I have change the setup to 15s 100P
I do have two groups of 15S giving me 3000 cells total.
I am only doing this due to service.. If I need to service a pack I can and still have 1 group up and running as I make repairs or service.
I only have about another 100pds of laptop batteries to crack open …. and I would say 50% of those are after market packs. So not looking like I'll be able to do 120P …. At some point I just have to say OK I'm done with this part.
I do still go back and forth on the two groups of 100P .. I do understand that doing this makes me need 30 Long-Mons. I get mixed feed back on what to do.

Anyway Just an Update

just an Update …
My last pickup of batteries seem to be testing out well.
I also moved all my stuff around so I could work a little better …
Right now on the table is 15s at 180P    the tubs above the Opus units are mostly full ..  Smile

So we'll see what I end up with after this group is done...     fingers crossed to be at 220P …  But I know I'll be able to reach 200P
