Hi,
I'm a total newby but have an uncle who is an electrician to help me. I have the opportunity to buy a battery pack from a bmw 22kwh that has been taken from a writen off 2016 car. I'm assuming it's a bit of a risk as I have no idea what state of charge the battery was in when it was removed and I know it has been out of the car for over 2 years.

I want to use the battery for solar storage and was wondering what the likelihood is that this battery would still be useable ?

Also wondering what value to place on 22kwh of bmw battery

any help would be appreciated

Value is anything upto 3k - what state was the vehicle in ?

Testing at the packs external connector will just show zero volts, although someone is likely to have built a CAN spoofer to energise the internal contactors so you read pack voltage externally.

Just get a multimeter and check the voltage of the battery. Or have the seller do that for you and make sure to include this number in the deal. If it's at reasonable voltage it will most likely be perfectly usable. Lithium cells aren't really affected by calendar life / shelf life as long as they aren't completely discharged.
