Hi,

I am stumped on which wire to purchase for the cell level fusing, my goal is no more than 3-5 amps per cell. going to build 7s120p battery.

Tinned has been menited a number of times, however, I dont see tinned on my searches via ebay or amazon for the sizing.

i know this suggest is beaten to death..... sorry for the spam!

I'm unsure where you are, but Google works here in the UK

https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TLFW5.html - just one of the numerous results.

I found that product as well however all in the UK.
I am states bound.

I can find the fuse wire on the little boards just not a full reel of it. oddly

Tinned copper wire only. Can be found everywhere but the search can be hard
Sometimes only mentioned like "fuse wire"

That Jewellery stuff will likely be very poor quality - there must be an electronics components supplier over there such as RS or DigiKey ?

i ordered a couple different types shall see how it pans out.

thanks yall.

Glass axial fuses. For the price, they are so much easier to use.

36AWG is dead thin wire. Thats way to low unless you plan 100mA current... ;P

Use 32AWG or 36SWG and you find more results. 32/36 is rated 5A nominal current and works great for up to 1A tested current without any significant losses.

Beware of that you do not fuse them towards the 1A current but towards all rest of cells dump their current into that one when dead short... Then 5A Fuse wire is good to have. You do not want to change fuse wire on each cell due to normal overload. That should have been taken care of by the main fuse to the pack instead....

gotta go small to learn was my thinking haha.

Many people have gone way to small in terms of fuses on cell level and instead have had to redo it all..... ;)

haha.

my plan is to fuse every link i can do protect best i can.

In addition, the pyro-fuse or pyro-disconnect (see illustration above) is another breakthrough by Tesla a completelyfail-safe solution in the unlikely event of an anomaly in the electrical system. Thispyro-fusecan be detonated with a digital signal from the Model 3 on-board computer resulting in a total disconnect of the battery pack from the rest of the system.

maybe one of these are needed =D
