I have been harvesting laptop battery packs this past few weeks but my luck is not that great i have salvageda 100pcs of red sanyos mostly from acer, gateway and toshiba brands, but others gets hot and others are cool when charging,i just discharged and charge again (3x) -the good ones and they are still cool to to charge.i just want to ask if anyone using it in their packor ( is it safe to use it in a battery pack? maybe 4S10P?)

I have many 100s of em in My packs here.

I don't have any in my packs yet but I am testing them and am finding that at least the UR18650FM is not a bad cell.
There are 2 versions of this cell, some that have a red rather translucent wrapper and those tend to be the older cells I believe, and the ones that have a more pinkish red not so translucent wrapper are the newer ones.

I find the "newer" ones to be very good and usually have a lower IR and perform very well. No heat and good capacity.
Measure the true IR of the cell and stick to ~55m? or less and you will have a great cell.
206 of the UR18650FMCells analyzed so far.

But yes I will be using them in my packs.
For more graphs of all kinds of cells go tohttps://drive.google.com/open?id=1uvfIB4Kb8vd3_-hnGeE-3k0ejsUlbq2w

I have hundreds of red Sanyo in service without any problem. Most of them are the cyan-ringed cells, can't recall the exact model number. The heaters I find are mostly the purple-ringed cells. I haven't used any of those yet just because I don't have a large enough usable quantity and I'm trying to equally distribute same-model cells among the packs.

Yeah I use quite a few of them. If they test ok and don't get super hot, in they go!

I too have some in my packs.

LOL :p
Because I'm too lazy to go out in the cold to find some and for some reason didn't occur to me to look there :D

Red and FakeRed Sanyos cover all range from good to bad, so just select the good ones and then feel free to use them in any pack you want, but don't use them for power tools as those need cells that support high current.

So you wouldn't use a SanyoUR18650RX in a power tool then.
Interesting

No offense, but read again the initial topic. The cells in questionare harvested from laptops, they are not high current cells.

No offence taken. :D
But the topic is "Anyone used a goodred sanyo's on their pack?"
Not "Have you harvested any good sanyos from a pack." :)

But you are correct because the first post was about harvesting. My bad.
