Batrium BMS Questions
They will be about 1400ah for each pack @ 12v you think I should break this down into 3 ? I'm actually very concerned about the difficulty of identifying a bad pack with so many packs in parallel. 24v means I don't have to change regulators, but will have to dump my inverters. However will make bad pack detection twice as easy. Mmmm

I would definitely NOT run 1400Ah in same no. If its possible dump it down into several smaller ones. 4 or even more is what I would do. Then you have 1 longmon per pack and you will get a better understanding. You will also be able to remove 1 string if needed and still continue to run the system.

The n+1 approach is always good to aim for as minimum.

So, putting 10 longsmons on one large pack makes it easier to detect a bad pack?!?!? But then how do you figure out what cell(s) are bad? You have a lot of cells to go through.
But if you have 10 packs with a longmon on each, you'll know which pack(s) are having the issues as the longmon will report it easier. Not as good as if you were using 14s, but better.

Something you could add to your string design, if you're going to run 3s (which, in reality, 4s should be what you run for 12V), is between your packs install a current shunt. During running operations it won't mean much as current will be flowing through all of them in one direction. How ever, when the longmon is balancing and you notice current flowing towards a pack instead of being net 0, then you know the central pack is the one with the issue.

If there is a shunt between 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and pack 2 is drawing more power, then you will see a current flow from 1 to 2, and from 3 to 2 (the 3 to 2 shunt will actually read negative current as it's going backwards)

Korishan you got it wrong now. 1 longmon per pack and instead of 10 longmons on 1 pack 10 packs with 1 longmon each.

Yes you can run current shunt in between and in future version this might show up Wink I run 2 now and can see it happening and about to hook up the 3rd.

That's what I said, daromer Wink

But we both agree to have smaller packs with 1 longmon on each, even if the packs are connected in parallel.

Ooooo, video material!!! Wink

I never said that it was easier to have it like that. I said the opposite.

Quote:"and then run 1 longmon each. You get better monitoring and will be able to better tell what packs are getting issues."

Oooo, hahah. I guess I should of quoted the OP on that one. I wasn't responding to your comment, but his comment.

That's the part I was referring to, not yours, daromer Smile Sorry for the confusion.
