Batrium and a magnum 4448PAE/PT100 setup
#1
Hello all, after a bit of search I could not find my answer, so I figured I would ask here.

What do you guys think would be the best way to allow for high voltage and low voltage cutoff using the Batrium BMS on a lithium (NMC) battery bank for a solar setup. My inverter will be a Magnum 4448PAE and the charge controller will be a Magnum PT100.

I could not find anything mentioning communication between batrium and magnum products.
System I have ordered and am waiting to assemble: Magnum MS4448PAE, MPDH175-30D Panel, Magnum PT-100 Charge Controller, 14s16p 22kwh Lithium NMC battery bank, Batrium Watchmon 4, 16 Silfab SLA-M 310 solar panels.

You don't strictly need communication... I would suggest using a contactor for pack isolation, driven from the batrium fet output.

I would go for midnite solar e-panel designed for the magnum inverter - they're a very nice product and they will have the correct DC breaker fitted for inverter protection.

I use LSIS GER250 contactors from a electric vehicle breaker on eBay.
Current system: 9.6kWh wet Nicad batteries, 16S1P Calb LiFePo4, 210aH, Batrium WM4, Outback vfx3048 inverter, mx60 mppt controller, flexware 500 mounting hardware, 2.4kW solar array, 6kW lister diesel genset.

I contacted Magnum before I went Victron with hybrids. They do seem to prefer contactor switching like Hugh said. They stand behind that method's longevity.

Nice thanks for the info. I had just ordered a ABB shunt trip breaker, as I saw a guy using the batrium expansion model to trigger it on youtube.

I bought this:
ABB SACE S5N 2 POLE 400 amp 600vac 500vdc CIRCUIT BREAKER w/ SHUNT & AUX

The ABB is nice ones. I have done some videos about them for instance and many of us use em.

Apparently without know it I watched your video and ordered the ABB lol

Shunt trip is a good device for sure, but it needs physical intervention to reset in the event you can remotely clear the issue that caused the trip in the first place. I went for a contactor for this reason.

I might go that route later on, but for now I'll go the shunt trip route (mainly because I already bought the equipment lol)
