Hi All

I've had my WM4 some time but only had time to play this few week

The last two days have been having what appear to be random lockups the watchman appears to be in a boot loop

SOC is over 90% and the wifi is strong longest Ive seen up without lockup is about 4 hours

I've tried removing the connection to Victron GX but still dose it alert message in GX is low voltage and temp but this this is due to the reboots not the cause as its over 50 V and 10 deg C

tonight have removed the shunt no lock up so far about 3 hours in bit its so random not sure if found the cause as yet

any thoughts

Arden

I'm by no means an expert but I wonder if the Vitron GX has the same firmware as it was tested on? But removing stuff ie the shunt will always be the fastest way to troubleshoot but make sure you give it a good week between changing things. By fastest i mean slowest lol

Thanks for the fast reply the GX was my first thought but it still locks up /boot loop with Victron GX removed
so problem is elsewhere hoping its the shunt I was hoping to be in production by next weekend not sure now

Have you checked you've got the latest firmware in the WatchMon?
You mentioned low voltage alarm?
Is the power supply noisy or maybe a poor connection?

Its done it again today at 6 am so rules out the shunt :(

First thing I did was update the firmware and did it again yesterday just to be sure.

I'm powering it directly off my Powerwall so cant see that having dirty DC

going to reset everything today have see a YouTube clip of one doing very similar

I think I have a faulty WM but not sure how I prove it

Arden: What did you have hooked up to it when it happened the last time? You say it locks up; dos it stop flashing on the longmons or just connection to your computer?

its more then the connection to the computer the whole batruim loop geos down wont even respond to usb

when I go out the garage it looks to be trying to start but in a boot loop the watchman is going from totally off to flashing red and the cellmons are dead

reseat the power and everthing recovers for a few hours

Starting to sound like it needs to be posted back to have it checked in a controlled environment & replaced if necessary

have re done the power crimps in the while thinking what else to do

strange not the re connected shunt isn't responding too

you know there was something in my mind saying to look at other BMS I am so hacked off want to bin the whole project right now

if you have exhausted all reasonable efforts to troubleshoot send it back it's the only way.

I agree I've lost all faith in this system which is supposed to keep me safe

if batrium don't come up with anything soon going to request an RMA best bit is even if I get a full refund will be 100 out of pocket due to customs charges

To bad to hear that. I have 4 Batrium systems running here without issues.

Im pretty sure they help you out as long as you reached out to their support.

yep it was the reputation from this site that made me to this way

heres hoping they find a solution

Are you talking to Batrium about it? Im pretty confident they will solve it in one way or another!

Seems a one way conversation after first enquiry
they asked for logs and pictures which I supplied with first few emails were replied to quickly.

Now it's still not resolved and looking like hardware seem to be ignored. Not even acknowledge email.

Know it's a good product when working but the support model spears lacking right now couldn't recommend which is shame

I am happy to report that I've managed 16 hours with without a reboot and the shunt working this is not a record for either or but it is for both

I did a thought afterwards that I did some config before the firmware update some of the gear I work on doesn't like this

did a factory reset and managed several hours without reboot but no shunt at all so remade the cable from watchman to the shunt yesterday at 17:00 its not 09:00 and all still working

I need to tidy the cables but going to wait till the weekend make sure we have a stable system before messing with it again

We recently discovered that when the Watchmon loses connection with the router when it attempts to reconnect this paused the normal bms function. This is not ideal and most likely the symptom that your seeing. Have a read of about the wifi signal strength article, maybe the positions of where your bms and router are contributing to the problem. If the signal strength is poor maybe you need a Wifi repeater?

We are working on a firmware update to rectify the lockup and will have it available shortly. Please be patience whilst we get this ready.
