Cell testing method

Hi, what would you people here recommend as a proposed way of testing cells, if they're genuine or not?

I've ordered some cells from china, and I'm 50/50 whether they're dodgy cells or just reused cells.

I want to make a video on it once they arrive.
But first I just want to make sure my methodology is correct.

I plan on doing the following:

1: Simple voltage check
2: Capacity test
3: During capacity test measure heat
4: Measure internal resistance
5: Measure weight, compare to the "original" data sheet

Any other recommendations, or change of order?

I was thinking about charging and discharging, measure the drop in capacity and create a linear correlation, but that would be a tough job.

Price and weight will instantly tell if they are fake. Rest is to meassure it in decent way:
Here you can see how i did a test earlier: http://diytechandrepairs.nu/fake-scam-18650-batteries/

Just read the Aliexpress rules:

You are also eligible for AliExpress Buyer Protection when:

[*]You received fake items that were promised to be genuine (e.g. the item was described as an 'iPhone 5', but you received a 'HiPhone5' copy). In this case, you are able to get 3 times your money back in compensation*.View more

*What is '3 times your money back'?

The '3 Times Your Money Back' Program is a service offered by participating sellers that sell certain types of products on the AliExpress shopping platform. Under this Program, participating sellers assure that the products that they sell on AliExpress are genuine products.
If the products sold are counterfeits, the seller will compensate the buyer by paying them up to two (2) times the total amount that the buyer paid for those products (shipping costs excluded). AliExpress will also fully refund the money paid by the buyer.

lol - maybe I should wish they were fake

Even if they are fake, good luck in getting the refund. You'll possibly get the runaround until the warranty time expires

Aliexpress can be tricky to get money back. Ebay is not a problem at all. I have done MANY tests of cells from Ebay and not had a single transactions not getting money back. (So far...) :)

They are probably OK. They are most likely factory seconds. They do look a lot like genuine cells LG, Samsung or similar, that have been re-branded.

That said, stores on Ali can be very hit and miss. Sometimes you can be lucky, others not. It really does depend. I would test ALL the cells before putting into service. As I said, they are most likely factory seconds, who knows what you might get.

Very interested to see how your testsgo.

Also don't forget to check for self discharge. Check the voltage when you get them should be an early indicator. They should be at storage charge, approx 3.7v. Most likely they were made at the same time, so each batch should be at the same voltage.

Oh yes! I almost forgot about that! Very important! Thanks ::)
Yeah - I'm kind of curious also, as they do have good ratings, yet those can be fake.
But if they're decent, then is it actually not a bad price.

You can include subtitles with translation from Russian into English in
YouTube. In short, this guy talks about connecting 18650 cells to get the necessary voltage and capacitance. In this video, he collects the battery for the electric bike.
