When you were first starting out with the idea of building a Powerwall and gathering of materials. How did you go about asking/telling your significant other?
hahah my SO has gotten used to me spending money on stuff and building gadgets and avoiding her in the shed....
but i told her that I was going to do it and eventually it would save us money even though it would take years. she's an accountant so I showed her how I worked it out and she was supportive.

she was when i got solar too.. she usually HATES me spending money on stuff. She cried once when I bought a damn fridge!!! but if it saved money, or made our lives considerably better she usually was alright with it. I don't ask permission but I do discuss.

It's not the SO I worry about its the dog and cat that have been looking at me strangely. Big Grin
Seriously this habit is better than the last habit I had which keeps me at home and out of the bars.
So who could complain about that?

If 18 X 650 = 2200+mAh then we have power!
May all your Cells have an IR of 75mΩ or less Smile
Last count as of 6/10/2019
Total Number of Cells                          5940
Cells  >80% of Capacity                      4334
Cells <80% of Capacity                       1605
Cells ≥2200mAh & ≥ 80% & ≤75mΩ    2800 +236

My SO had always been talking about powerwalls and EV's, which in turn got me interested.

So I just blame him by saying it's his fault Big Grin
Mine says 'are you going to burn the house down?' or gets embarrassed if I talk about it around her. I just pretend nothing is happening..

Wife is wondering what the hell I am doing. I keep saying making an e-bike battery and that she wont be complaining when it comes time for her bike to have one as well. She said don't charge anything while we are sleeping or while away from the home. I tried to explain that it is nearly impossible to do that since most discharge and charge cycles last up to 8-12 hours. Guess i need to find a better place to keep this hobby hidden from her.
Nice post
My Mrs is used to me tinkering with one thing or another.
She wasn't sure about all the PV I put up until i showed her the meter wasn't turning anymore during the day,
Once I explained that we can store our surplus energy instead of dumping it back into the grid she soon come around to the idea that I need to spend short term to save long term.
We even filled up the hot tub this week and the meter still didn't turn while it was heating up. She thought that was great.

What's great is every time some new visits she's all over it and getting me to show them what I'm doing.

UK Southwest.

7 kWp Solar Panels
14 X APS YC500i Micro Inverters.
Still sourcing and processing cells for powerwall.
Planning on a Sofar Mass Energy ME3000SP AC coupled grid tied inverter.
In my case it was easy because my wife started prepping a couple of years ago. So a small system (24v, 1,000watts) was an easy sell. The larger system ran into trouble because she just doesn't like the look of solar panels. Fortunately for me, the south facing roof is toward the neighbors house and not visible to street or the back yard. So with that and some fine courting (which I enjoyed as well) - I get my larger system (48v, 7,000watts) Smile

But now I want more - as in another 24 panels and south roof is full. So I'm reading the post for any and all ideas....
