Has anyone built a DIY solar air furnace/heater before? I was quite intrigued by this. It looks very simple to make and can be very efficient. Most people use just regular black spray paint and it works good. I was thinking this Black 2.0 paint, which is one of the blackest and most light absorbing paint you can get.

That would work great. The blacker and matte-er the paint is, the better it becomes at absorbing heat. I'm assuming that's aluminum gutter spouts for that box. You don't want to use plastic, unless you want a fire or a gooey mess at the bottom of your box.
The other thing is that you would need to have a clear cover over the case. So plexi or glass cover. Otherwise, it's super inefficient as a lot will be radiated away instead of absorbed and transferred.

I plan on making one of these, myself. I just didn't have the funds to buy all the guttering needed and the size of plexi for the cover :s

That is a aluminum gutter spout version. It looks fairly simple. Add a small DC or AC fan and it would heat pretty good I think. I did see another one that was even more simple than this one and is meant to work inside your house sitting in a window facing the sun.

Yep. those can work too. You can also build them out of empty soda cans. You cut the bottoms and tops out so that they can allow air to flow smoothly, and then tightly tape them together (yes, you can tape them. just has to be aluminum tape, the kind used for ducting work) or solder, or make sure they are tightly pressed together in the housing. And then they are painted flat black. Same principle as the rain gutter down spouts but using recycled material (we're all about recycled materials, right ;) )

Cool. I made one of these as a project for a solar home design class and the test results were quite good.
Used a small 10W solar panel for forced air flow.
