E-Go Kart 18650 Pack - Cell fuses or nickel strips?

Assuming 2.5 amp hours per cell, this would result in a total “Watt Hour” calculation as follows: Total # of cells: 420 mutlpied by 3.7 nominal voltage per cell and then multiplied by 2.5 amp hours per cell.  This would be approximately 3,800 Watt hours for the entire 72v pack.

The calcualtion is as follows: 7s 20 P will with 2.5 amp cells give you: 2,5 x 20 = 50 amps x 24 volts = 1.200 watts.

50 amps x 72 volt = 3.600 watts. Putting pack in series ups the voltage not the amperage.

Thanks Sir. I appreciate your response

Ok.  I know I have been all over the map with my ideas regarding the battery pack but I have settled on one of the following two ideas:

1) A 20S10P pack (72V) on each side the passenger seat (connected in parallel for a total of 72V)
2) Two 10S10P packs (36V) connected in series on each side of the passenger seat (resulting in 72V).  These connected packs on each side of the drivers seat would in turn be connected together in parallel (which would provide 72V).

The math would be fairly simple (400 cells in either case).  Option 1 would involve a larger pack on each side (each with a BMS).  Option 2 would be more "modular" since there would be a total of four modules (and four separate BMS's).

The picture below shows the space on each side of the seat where the battery packs would be installed (on some type of tray).  So..... based on this configuration, we are back to the basic question.  "To fuse individual cells with spot welding or not to fuse".  That is the question. Soldering the fuses to the cells is not an option. This is really just a question of using pure nickel strips to make all connections or using copper bus bars with small copper wires spot welded to the cells as individual fuses.

Max amps will be 300 amps and constant amps will likely be in the 50 - 60 range.  Thanks for any ideas.

what motor are you going to use?

Motor: 72V Motenergy Brushless Motor (ME0201014201). Continuous current - approximately 50 - 60 amps at 72V

Charge Controller: Sabvoton (svmc72150) DC Current Limit: 100A

Two changes. 1) I will probably use a different charge controller but the max amps will probably be no greater than 200 amps. 2) battery pack will likely be 8P (instead of 10P) due to size constraints. At 200 max amps from the charge controller, this would be 12.5 amps per cell. The Samsung cells can output 20 amps continuous so I should be ok. Any thoughts?
