Hi - noticed a few members that have this inverter (either easun or mpp version):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2kva-1600w...ery-charger-/132841577019?hash=item1eedf99a3b

Wondering how they are working so far for folks that have them up and running? Any issues?

I am thinking of getting one to add to my current setup that uses two SUN-1000gtli, one for each leg. (In US so split phase panel).

https://secondlifestorage.com/t-External-limiting-an-GTIL2-SUN-1000G2-with-raspberry?page=10

My thought was to move my current SUN inverters to a single 110v leg of the panel and get the 1648 for the other leg.

I am a little fuzzy of the AC hookup side and how the 1648 handles loads. Maybe someone can answer the following.

1. How does the AC input work, dedicated breaker for the inverter and another dedicated for the output? I was thinking 2 15amp breakers on the same leg. What are folks panel setups like? I found the manual lacking that detail.

2. What happens if the panel load exceeds inverter capacity? Will is just switch 100% to utility or would it supplement, example a 2000w load so 1600w from inverter and 400w from utility?

3. 240v loads. I have a few 240 circuits that I am stuck with. Has anyone seen any impact to their own 240appliances? Wondering if the 1648 does a full switch over to utility if the cutover is quick enough that the appliance is not impacted, washer, dryer, stoves, etc..

Thanks!

FYI - I asked Peggy at MPP the above questions and she responded with the following. What is most interesting they are coming out with a 5k model next month, 5048MSX:

If what you need is a Split phase 110vac and 220vac inverter, then PIP1648MSX is not suitable
As its only a 110vac single phase inverter . not split phase

And we will have a 5000w Split phase 48v inverter ready in March, if you can wait. Please let us know.

and note the inverter is 1600w , surge power 3200w.

for ac load exceed 1600w, inverter will be overload, could be damaged for using the inverter under over load . and its important when you size the inverter, the inverter size should be 1.5 2 times higher than your ac load ( especially if there are some of inductive ac loads will be used eg, wash machine or motor . those require a very high surge power )

MPP already had a single unit that does split phase and is 6KW. PIP-LC 6048. Ive been eyeing that unit for quite some time! Depending on the price of this new unit I may consider either of them. I think Peggy said around $1300 plus shipping for the PIP-LC with the 50A MPPT charger and Green mode.

I do have the 1648MSX right now and its been fantastic for the last year I've been running it. Ive had it set up on both a lead acid 48v bank at 1st and a now on my 18650 cartridge power wall. I love the easy to use settings when hooked up to a lap top or PC. Mine will easily maintain a steady load just under 1600w with the fans blaring (I dont push it like that very often though). My static house load is about 400 or so watts and it will start my fridgeand run my blower motor for my furnace. It does not like my microwave or my electric skillet though. Those will overload is within about 8 seconds. Ive accidentally overloaded it many times without any failures what so ever.

As a stepping stone I would 100% recommend the 1648MSX! I was only looking for a charge controller but for like $150 more it came with a damn reliable inverter!

You can not use it for a split phase setup with another inverter! The sine waves will clash and you will likely let magic smoke out of the inverters. The sine wave for split phase must be synced with each other!

I use mine strictly off grid and have only used the AC battery charger function a few times so I cant answer your other questions.

Thanks for the info! Great to hear the feedback. A few questions...

Do you know when you exceeded the inverter's limit if it will cut over to grid AC or is it limited by the overall inverter limit, 1600w? Sounds like it is with your overload example and will not switch over to AC above the inverter limit.

Yes thePIP-LC 6048 sounds really good and one that I have already reached out to Peggy about (MPP) and unfortunately is soldonly a OEM model:

HI Sir

Sorry that PIP 6048LC is an OEM model. reuqire min order qty 200 pc at lesat
And all our our PIP inverters can work as connect to AC grid, but not feeding power back to ac grid.
Have you decided to oroder ??

Ideally I am looking forward to the 5048 split phase, hoping it is priced aggressively enough that it will be an easy choice when compared to Outback or Schneider hybrid inverters.

I only use mine off grid so it is never connected to grid power except when I have used the AC battery charging.

I have the hybrid version (the green one)
It has been working great for almost a year and could start a 10,000 BTU Window ac with no problem,
Until i decided to upgrade its firmware today, Now it doesnt work!
