Esperyd´s Raspberry PI project
It says influx send so it should be sending it to the database under pcm2_query_general_status. Did you check in that place?

Big Grin
Many thanks, daromer and all, I finally got solar-sis fully up and running on my Linux Mint install.  Big Grin

What finally worked for me was to position telegraf as the data/metrics collector between solar-sis and Influxdb. And, just to stay in the same ecosystem, for now, I'm exploring/querying the metrics with Kapacitor and doing the visualization within Chronograf.

My so far basic/rudimentary dashboard is attached.

I'm almost certain I'll get better graphing when I eventually use Grafana in place of Chronograf.

(BTW, I may in addition in the near future jump on the RPi train just for solar-sis. It will be quick so for me when support for the B+ matures.)

Thanks again, guys.

Seems the screenshots of the dashboard in action have not shown up in the last post, so I'm dropping them here as well.

Nice looking! Im not sure why you needed telegraf. Can you elaborate if you find out what wasnt working? I skipped telegraf since it ads an extra layer. Though telegraf is nice to have it you need to batch the data and you kill your influxdb doing 1 value at a time Smile

Thanks for the encouragement, daromer.

One bottleneck I thought I had with Influxdb accepting data directly from solar-sis, was the specification in the session.json file (or was it another file? I'll have to check again) for the database to be written to, be named, "powerwall&precision=s". However, Influxdb just wouldn't accept characters such as the Ampersand in the name of a database - or so I figured - on Linux Mint.

That, along with some authentication errors I was encountering at a time with Influxdb, made me remove the "&precision=s" spec from the file and just use the Influxdata stack as a whole. It worked thereafter, but I can't say for certain that was the only reason it worked.

I know this doesn't do proper justice to your question, and I will probably eventually get solar-sis to write directly to Influxdb, so I'll try to investigate further.

Precision=s is to make sure the db sets it as second precision instead of getting perhaps mSeconds as default taking up more space. So basically the DB name is only "powerwall".

Can you get me the error code you got due to above (If you got any?) Im more than happy to correct things in base code but I just have very limited time to set up my own testing environments for every test..

Auth error is interesting too. Was it really Auth error or your influxdb configured to not accept enough values?

As said im more than happy to help and try to get it as stable as possible and all inputs for code changes can be sent to github directly Smile I just started the work and hope to get help to get it further Smile

I'll be willing to provide all info/error messages I had while setting up solar-sis on my rig, to help you help we beneficiaries further. At this point, I did not keep a record of other errors other than the ones I considered relevant at the time, and which errors I posted earlier, including the adjustments I managed to make.

I understand the purpose of the "&precision=s" alright, and I might just try it again soon. It's just that I have had to go through quite a few finicky situations with the various modules/several re-installations, so much so, that I'm wary of breaking something again so soon after I finally got it working, even before I get to enjoy seeing the graphs for a couple of days, lol.  Smile

TBH, sometimes I just felt I could just have bought a RPi 3 and used your essentially turnkey image/solution, instead of me having to spend all the time trying to port solar-sis to the largely idle 1GB RAM 64-bit lappy I've had lying around. In the end, I'm glad I got it working. (I should up the RAM to 2GB soon, anyways.)

Having said all that, be rest assured I'll do better with my housekeeping habit, and furnish you with further developments and errors I may encounter on this project.

Just to be more clear, I think a direct relief would be to implement the "&precision=s" call in another way/area, other than lumping it in the same word with the intended name for the database?

Yes the database should be in the config and precisiion externally but of some reason it never ended up in such a way Big Grin
