Esperyd´s Raspberry PI project
nrm21 i cant replicate it here atleast and have not seen the error before.

How have you hooked up the inverter? Original wire? Homemade? USB ?

I have not tried it on a machine with less than 1gb ram though.
Could i get access to logon your raspberry pi to try? If so message me.

Ok I managed to get solar-sis working somehow but when it sends to a remote influx the server responds with unable to parse json object. Even thought it is sending as "application/x-www-form-urlencoded".

Any thoughts on how to fix this? Could I somehow use Node-red to convert the url encode to json before sending HTTP post? Or maybe there is a better way?

Most likely but im not sure what you are doing or when you get all those issues? The ISO works fine. I have like 4 running here and i know plenty using it without issues.

Influx cant parse it if the data inside is nor correct. Did you look at that? I guess you have tampered with the code or have some issues receiving the data im afraid.

I have modified the code in one way yes, I am not running influx locally so I set this line in session.js (within the examples/PIP4084 dir) to an IP from 127.0.0.1 like this:

"influxUrl": "http://10.150.30.4:8086/write?db=powerwall&precision=s",

That's the only change I have made. The port is open and accepting traffic I know because i have another machine sending traffic to it.

Actually the way I figured out that the server is sending back that message even was that I used command "tcpdump -X port 8086" on the server. So I know traffic is being received, it just doesn't like the format.

If it doesnt like the format then you dont get the data needed from the inverter. Most likely related to your original error you got. I suggest to solve that first and just dump the data to a log to see that you get all info from the inverter. If you dont get all data in to the software itself influx wont get correct data and then will it throw Json errors.

I'm getting the data correctly. And it appears that the program is working as intended, it just doesnt seem to send it to influx in a way it likes. Which is wierd because according to their documentation they are fine with urlencoded... I'm starting to think the issue is on the influx side now. Is there anyway to have solar-sis output this same data in JSON format instead? Or perhaps have node red convert it or something?
Reply
solar-sis is outputting the data in correct format. Either the problem is with your influx database or your getting the data wrongly from the inverter/parsing it wrong.

The later is common if you get for instance 1 value wrong then the matched protocol parsing the data will cause a malfunctioned json string.
You can of course send it to node-red if you want but there will be exact same problem there. Node-red wont be able to transform the string to Json since its malformed.

As I said me and several more run it 100% without issues. I have for instance several external Influx databses and still not a problem BUT when i get strange data above error will occur.
