Hi guys.

Thank you for all the great topics on this site.
It has inspired me to start my own project.

I'm planning to go with the MPP PIP4048MS and start small with the batteries.
Maybe I can get some Lead Acid for a small price through my company, as I am an electrician.

Looking forward to post some more in the future.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Germany :) . It's good to see that there're more and more people doing things like we do. I also starting the way you're planning now, wanted to go from small to big with little costs... and now I regret that I started with (more or less expensive) lead-acid batteries. Overall, I bought 8 LA solar batteries (2x 100Ah, 6x 280Ah) that I'll try to get rid of as soon as I have enough capacity with 18650s (another 840 cells to go). That's why I suggest -if you seriously want to jump into this topic- you should start collection laptop batteries, the sooner the better. You'll find many proofs of concept here that cover the basics and from which to learn fast and (almost :D ) without a risk.

Have sun!
Oliver

Thanks for your reply. Actually I have a battery-pack from a Citroen C-Zero on my hand.
But I don't know if the battery works, and we are talking the price for 3! PIP4048's... I'll maybe aim for this solution to start with, if I have balls for it. :)

Where are you all getting your batteries from? (I don't know where to go, for used batteries?)

wow, that's cool... never saw a battery pack from this car, but if there're 18650s in it, it would be good start to disassemble it :D .

I starting buying used laptop batteries on eBay, but the prices went through the roof in the last months. Seems there's a high demand due to people from here ;) . I then started to look for other sources and ended up at local electronics recycler. Fortunately, they were for someone to care of their IT, now I'm doing this job, gave them a little discount and have a continuous supply for battery packs now (getting a box with 50-70 packs almost every week) :) .

Damn! Wish it was me! :D
The Citroen has not 18650s but 3.2v 50Ah li-ion inside...
Found a yid on youtube...

Do you know any german site for searching used car-parts?
I am willing to go to germany for batteries like this. :D
