Howdy from Texas (soon to be Montana) U.S.A.

If my username is any indication, I have a strong desire to remove myself from modern society while hanging onto the technologies I find beneficial. I plan to move to the mountains in a couple of years and live as off the grid as I can. However, I have no desire to become a hermit, just self reliant. Grow and hunt the meals my family need, collect and make potable my own water and what brings me here tobuild my own solar and wind power generation and the means to store it. I am fairly competent with power and electronics as well as being a skilled carpenter and fabricator. But if there is one thing I know it is that there is always someone smarter or more experienced that I can learn from and when you put those minds into a collective such as this forum, GREAT THINGS WILL HAPPEN. So I am glad that I found this resource and I look forward to the hive mind checking my work and learning from yours and mine successes and failures.
