Howdy all,

Went looking for some cheap solid core 2.5mm TPS electrical cable to build twisted bars in my packs. Looks like none of the local electrical suppliers over here have stock (Brisbane). Have tried the usual eBay and Ali-express, but everything seems to be stranded. Upon further investigation, pretty much everything coming into local suppliers is now stranded...Not sure I could make stranded cable look neat.

Anyone know where some might be hiding? Need about 50m or preferably a roll of 100m..... Plan B is 1/4 copper HVAC tubing, but that has it's own problems....

Please halp.

Bump ,

Any other suggestions for cheap busbar designs I can order parts for here in Aus?

Even mail order from China....

Hoping to source in the next few weeks.

Thanks,
J

Instead of looking at house electrical wiring (romex or the like), try looking at the solid core wires on spools. They are usually only black and red, but some are green or yellow.

twisted stranded cable would be interesting look. Though, it might be harder to twist into larger bundles.

Tracked down some 6 awg bare copper at a reasonable price :)

Over is the only kind of kill I know

No harm in over size. Clean it with a plastic scour and it will solder very nicely.

Contact an electrician and ask them for old wiring removed from a house rewire and pay them scrap value for it. The copper cores are still good....

Stranded cable when twist wound will align and look quite good. If you do it like SWA cables are wound, make 5 or 7 core winds first and then twist them together. Depends on what you want...
