Inverter "flick the switch" remote

sorry if this has been discussed already, but I didnt find it...

As some of you know I have a off grid setup, shack in the woods with only solar power and generator for "heavy machinery" usage

I installed a MPPSolar PIP 3024MSXE Inverter now which works fine, what I want to do is turn off the 230v supply at night(say 01:00 till 05:00) to save a lot of energy for my 4,5Kw/h battery(standby usage about 50w/h)
I didnt find any software that could do it so I guess it really comes down to the big switch on the side which turns off AC and lets the unit still charge by solar if there is enough light.

Has anyone done this already?
 
Run the AC output from the inverter into a breaker box with a kill switch attached, and flip the switch when you want to kill all the AC power.

However, this is the manual method. If you want to go the automated route, then you'd need something like this:

A contactor that can be switched on/off using the onboard relay to toggle states. Use a rasp pi or arduino or esp32 or some kind of mcu to do the controlling.
 
thx for the info but I meant I want to kill mostly the standby usage of the inverter. There will only be a fridge running at night(35W when on), Inverter standby is 50W...
 
Well, you can still use similar to the above. Just use one rated for DC voltage/current and switch it off. The switches would be before the inverter instead of after it
 
hmm, you are right, didnt think about a relay before the inverter, thx, will do a search in that direction!
 
I tried looking that up but couldn't get much information. I have an inverter dedicated to my fridge and it only turns on when rhe thermostat drops. I use one of those plug in electronic wall timers modified to work on DC. Incidentally, internally it was a 24V DC timer. I use it to turn off my entire system at night and on in the morning. How do you turn it off now manually? You probably aren't keen to opening it up while in warranty.
 
You don't mention the controller you are using... but in my case I use Midnite Classic 150(s) which have 1) internet - e.g. remote access and 2) auxilary relays that can turn things on/off automaticallly based on settings (such as battery voltage) OR manually turn these relays on/off. Maybe your controller has such a function that you could use?
