Panasonic NCR18650BD 3200mAh 10A cell's capacity test
#1
Video
Panasonic NCR18650BD is a mid-drain high capacity Li-ion cell in traditional 18650 format. It's rated at 3180mAh and supports discharging at up to 10A.

The battery was bought from my reliable supplier (Queen Battery) and tested with ZKETECH EBC-A20 and a self-made battery holder. It's a PC-connected battery tester supporting 4-wire measuring and discharging at up to 20A.

I've used version 3.0 of my battery holder based on 0.5mm thick pure copper terminals

I've followed all the prescriptions of the IEC61960-2003 standard concerning battery's capacity measurement. Before each discharging cycle each battery was charged at standard charge current mentioned in its datasheet to charge end voltage. Before each discharging or charging i've held a 1-1.5hrs pause. The environment temperature was 23.0-24.5°C. To be sure in results i've done each test minimum twice (usually 3-4 times).

Specifications from NCR18650BD datasheet:
Rated capacity: 2980mAh at 20°C
Minimum capacity: 3030mAh at 25°C
Typical capacity: 3180mAh at 25°C
Nominal voltage: 3.6V
Standard charge current: 0.909A (0.3C)
Max charge current: 1.5A
Charge end voltage: 4.20V
Charge cut-off current: 60.6mA (0.02C) (100mA used)
Max continuous discharge current: 10A
Discharge cut-off voltage: 2.5V
AC impedance at 1KHz: ≤35mΩ
Max weight: 49.5g

The measured weight of my cell is 46.66g. Measured DCIR at 3030mAh was 23.8±1.0mΩ (in fully charged condition).

NCR18650BD capacity test results:

At 0.2C or 0.61A NCR18650BD's capacity was a bit higher than declared and it didn't go below 3020mAh all the way up to 10A. The curves look excellent even at 10A. Just a great cell, nothing to add.

Absolutely right. And look at the 10A curve - it looks excellent! No sign of being close to the edge.
