Just out of curiosity has anyone taken a small (in my case 80cc) pit bike and converted it into an electric motorcycle/baby electric off roader?

Just toying with the idea as my sister gave me her old pit bike for the kids to learn on, and I thought that converting it to an EV would be a fun mini project. I have batteries and was thinking 48-72v pack for it would be easy enough to build, so need a motor & controller/charger I can swap the engine out for.

If I could fast charge it off the car charger (Rolec 6.6kw/h) that would be even better!

Any info appreciated!

I haven't seen one, but...it shouldn't be hard. Pull the motor and transmission out, take a pic and post the dimensions of the space in the frame. Once you determine the top speed you want, you factor-in the diameter of the rear tire, and the tooth-count of thestock rearsprocket. That will tell you the RPMs you need from the motor...

From there you can shop for a motor and determine the voltage that will meet your needs. The motor will determine the battery and controller needed.

Any links to appropriate motor & controller packs?

45-50mph top speed ideally, with a way to limit it to about half that via Controller if possible...
