I have hundreds of these little heaters but it sure what to do with them. Is the general thought to just leave them out of powerwall packs? Some get warm and some get very hot. I have a box I throw all the hot ones in to keep them separate but have probably 300 that only got fairly warm. Use them or trash them?

Anything that gets warm/hot does not get used in my build. This is regardless of type. It's true that 95% of the hot ones I discard are Sanyos. I still use the Sanyos that run at normal temps. I see no reason to trash those. Don't risk your entire powerwall build over not wanting to discard the hot Sanyos or you'll find yourself having to tear the entire thing apart only to start from scratch again.

Enough said. Maybe someone on eBay will want them for something. Thanks.

That's where I get rid of mine. You'll get a lot of money for them. Just make sure to be very clear and specific about the issues they have (getting hot). I'm not sure what people use them for but I've sold several boxes already. No returns or complaints :)

Are you the one selling boxes of dead Cells? I see those on eBay and ppl fighting over them. I'm like what the hell do people do with dead Cells?? Lol

They take them, slice them open, and refill with sand and rebrand them as 5000maH cells.

That's probably me. No idea and don't care... LOL.

on the subject i just got my first set of heaters, however they heated up doing 4P @ 2A from 2.6v so i let them cool off overnight and put them back on @ 2A and they stay cool, going to do a discharge/charged @4A, 4P to see if they heat up again. if they dont heat at 4A, 4P think they are safe to use? or once they heat they are suspect and not safe for large pack use?

I tried that before. In my experience, they charge up to 4.2v fine on the second charge. Once they discharged fully and begun the charge cycle, the issue presented itself again. After that, I stopped fooling around with them all together. When they feel hot, they go in a bin. Done.

I have had a similar struggle over the Sanyos. I have more of them than any other cell, and most of the bad cells I have found have been Sanyos. But that could just be because I have so many of them. I'm not sure if im going to use any of them to be honest, but if I don't it basically doubles my cell cost.

I have a lot of orange sanyo's and so far I haven't found a single bad one. The red ones are a different story. Only 1 out of about 30 or so will charge without getting hot. It doesn't seem to matter which capacity cell either. If it's red it tends to get hot.

Some of my best cells are red Sanyos - I will use them in my mini Powerwall.

so anything that gets more then just handwarm is sort of bad? i have 6, probably was 1 pack, that gets fucking hot to touch, never over 4,1v and takes charges as if they were 3 cells - but they also give power back - i dont really know what to do with these either... i call them Jalapeo, i also have some green ones, freaking hot but get rated fairly good.... maybe 1A charge and 1A discharge is too hard?

I have found that if the red cells test above 2000mah then they haven't gotten hot so they are good for my wall.
