I've pulled a bunch of Samsung IC18650-30B cells out of a collection of Dell Laptop Batteries. The cells are all soldered/welded to these metal bits as seen in the photo. Any tips on separating them safely?

After snipping them in half, you "could" try rolling the tab off. Firmly hold on to the tab and roll the snips/pliers across the end of the cell. Sometimes that's enough to pull the tab off, but not damage the cell. But this tactic doesn't always work. You can tell if its holding on too tight and stop before holes are made.

That should work great, thank you.

I have had a good number of pin Hollis after rolling the tab off on negative Sid

I have better success with twisting as in clockwise counter clockwise arround axis of cell

This seams to leave weld intact andproud of surface
