The unknown Sanyo/Panasonic cell in the database with the (darker) purple ring may be the same model as this one. I've got a few red with purple here with "UR18650A R1112" very faintly embossed into the wrap lengthwise.

I can confirm, have some purple ones that have the UR18650A embossed as well.

https://www.tme.eu/en/Document/5057fe98d...18650A.pdf seems to be the proper datasheet from sanyo.

I also have a bunch of these cells with purple rings and "R1112" on some and "M32A" on others engraved texts.

Attaching images.

That said, I believe these cells should include all three rings colors on the cell database page.

The R1112 is thought to be a legal marking by Sanyo in Korea, the M32A is a date code.

J = 2005
K = 2006
L = 2007
M = 2008

32 = 32nd week of the year

A = revision

So looks like that cell was made in August 2008...

I have had fairly bad luck with the purple rings, they tend to heat up considerably at the final CV charge phase of the test sequence.

Fair enought on the R1112/M32A markings, however on my cells the "M32A" text is placed exactly where the "R1112" is on the other cells, as shown on photos.
I also have to agree on the recoverability of the "R1112" cells, I have none that even cleared 1000mAh. However, I've had quite some luck with the "M32A"s, got quite a few above 2000!

Got a pack full of heaters like that.
Purple ring like thanar's one, UR18650A M20A engraved on the sleeve.

Graphs of a charge attempt of a set of 4 of them below.
The voltages (upper graphs) plateaued somewhere between 4.10 and 4.20V, while the currents (lower graphs, 100mA per line) remained high and declined slowly over a period of 9 hours.
Charge failed to terminate before timeout, cells were hot but touchable.

Just tested a pack with the blue ring like Tostaki's above.
Embossed UR18650A R2112
Date code P13B

They tested well considering their rating; 6 cells averaged 2325 mAh using an Opus.
