Solar Hot Water ...
#21
Some of these arrived today to lower voltage, should work for a few different projects if I got the ringt info ( it as was mostly from Danile lol so should be spot on! )

The only way to lower the voltage with just only resistors is to do a voltage divider circuit. Between Pos and Neg, you have two resistors in series. Then your device connected between the two resistors for Pos and the common ground/Neg.
If the resistor values are equal, then the divided voltage will be 1/2. So if you have 24V on the main power, then the voltage divider would give you 12V output.
If you need a different value, then you'll need to change the Pos side resistor to a higher or lower number depending on if you need to go higher or lower on the voltage.

So, if you had 10-Ohm on the Neg leg, and 4-Ohm on the Pos leg, then the divided voltage would be 6.8V. However, if you went 4-Ohm on the Neg side and 10-Ohm on the Pos side, you'd get 17.1V

What value resistors did you get? Is it the 10-Ohm ones?

However, this is for "low current" applications only. What are you needing to lower the voltage on? I forget.

arrrr that's right lol I just figured I could use it 'in the same way with relay - but doesn't matter now HW rig is no more and needed parts are heading north!

You could actually use a tank like the videos to preheat water for the main HWS & save some $ on your hot water costs....
Pete, you gave up too soon!

This is actually what Mike did, which is where Pete got his idea to tinker with his HW tank from Wink
