I harvested 12 of these recently from used laptop battery packs, 8 capacity tested in the 1100-1199 range and 4 capacity tested in the 1000-1099 range. As a used cell I would say these #s are in line with what you guys stated as the likely Original Capacity.

I believe these Sony cells to be 1500 mAh. I have just harvested 8 of them from a 14.8V 3000mAh pack, which indicates 3.6V x 4 and two in parallel to make 3000mAh total.

I can confirm they should be 1500mAh cells as have just removed the same cell from Dell with label attached
4s2p pack

Hello!
I have cells marked as US 18650S but the liner is green with black insulator ring.

Harvested 100 from old industrial scanners
Tests showed capacity from 1190 to 1394 mAh

If I find a way to attach a jpg I will post it here

US18650S with no H2 imprint, from 14.8V 2500mAh (4s2p) pack, so should be 1250mAh. Maybe rated 1300mAh and minimum 1250mAh.
Manufactured in May 1996 (date code EE), tested at 1A = 1192mAh
Not bad for 27 years old.

H2 cell is 1500mAh

There seem to be two different versions without H2 imprint.

I found 2 US18650S STG cells in an old Sony mobile phone battery QN-011BP with 1200mAh.
Code printed on the cell under the wrapper:
174ED23G
first digit here is a 1 and maybe tells, that it's the 1200mAh version. ED23 is the date code (1996-04-23)

The cells from the 2500mAh laptop battery 4S2P:
174EE22G
again a 1 as first digit. The laptop battery should have been rated 2400mAh then.

From a 1350mAh Siemens mobile phone battery V24851-Z2705-A1-2 I got another 2 US18650S STG cells with code:
274EK11B
first digt here is a 2 and maybe tells, that it's the 1350mAh version. Date is 1996-11-11

From a 2700mAh Dell Laptop battery pack P/N: 53977 4S2P:
254FK14Z
first digit again a 2 for 1350mAh cell.

H2 cell with 1500mAh:
324IC03G
first digit is a 3 and cell has 1500mAh

Conclusion
US18650S STG without H2 imprint and a 1 as first digit in factory code should be 1200mah
US18650S STG without H2 imprint and a 2 as first digit in factory code should be 1350mAh
US18650S STG with H2 imprint and a 3 as first digit in factory code should be 1500mah

found a store page with these cells here and also a non-manufacturer "datasheet" here

not sure how reliable they are, but both state the capacity to be 1300mAh
