Hi, all.
A noob here.
I am going straight forward why Im here.
Question about 12v 2,3ah.
What would you do with this batteriesif you had the opportunity to gather about 100 peices a year?
Can I do something with this batteries?
I am dreaming about to start some project.

Pease advise and thanks in advance.

Do you mean 12V lead acid batteries?

You gotta give us some more info than that.

We're not like a fish where a worm gets us excited. We need at least 1/2 the platter of the meal ;)

Sorry for my poor info.
Yes. I meant 12V 2,3Ah and valve regulated lead acid battery.

Thanks in advance.

Most likely just bin them. Lead acid arent known to last that long :(

It depends on how they are or have been treated. They tend to last 3 to 5 years in a UPS, which is not a particularlygood environment for them.

However even at 30% depth of discharge you will only get about a thousand cycles out of them.

If you have the time to test them, an application for them, and the room to store them, I would use them. I power my battery chargers with second hand lead acid batteries.

Yeah and most of the time the ones you get are 3+ years. In my experience of collecint many 100s of em not many have been worth the time. Do you take in account the cost to test them and the time to just haul them... I stopped even thinking about it after starting with Lithium :) The only leads I take are new ones or ones like max 6 month and not cycled.

Thanks for all replies.
I am talking about 100 pieces every year.
I know they are not good as, and have shorter lifespans than lithium batteries.
Those I can save are in good condition, I think, I charge them up to 13V.
But I dont know what do to with them. I am collecting them without cause?

If you do want to use them you will have to test them. Lead acid are a little different to test that Li-Ion. If you post some specs I can give you some instructions.

As for what to do with them. It depends. I personally would beef up the cooling on a UPS, disable the alarm, and give it the longest run time possible. There are plenty of decent UPS secondhand on eBay. Depending on how many batteries you have you may opt for a server unit (most of which are 24v).However using secondhand lead acid batteries in series is not recommended. Unless you have some kind of balance hardware.

As for charging. Typically there are two voltages. For a typical 12v VRLA battery: -

For cyclic use 14.6 - 14.8v
For standby use 13.7 - 13.8

Sorry for late reply.
Those I have stored since 2-3 months are between 12.6-12.75.
I was more interested in of some kind off grid system. It's possible?
