Yeah, this is been the bane of my existence for some time - lots of wiring even from reputable american companies being made as CCA instead of real Copper. For the larger gauge stuff, you can just look at it. At the end of the wiring, if it looks like like it's aluminum, that's because it is.

Where it gets harder is with this smaller gauge wiring. I've had some CCA stuff though that acted just like copper (from a bending perspective), I should incorporate the burn test he suggests, didn't realize how striking a difference that makes!
