li ion and NiMh

Or else you will be chasing 2 inverters, 2 charge controllers, etc, for a set of batteries that dont really have that much life left in them. Dunno how much you have Wolf, but 100kwh-hunter has <1kwh of NiMh, and that's 1% of 100kWh!

I will take all your suggestions and mull them over and come up with a solution. Thanks for all your suggestions.

DarkRaven ,
What's the capacities we're talking about here and how much solar power do you have? Maybe a ratio other than 50:50 might be a solution. Or maybe you can go 100% lithium and repurpose the lead acid batteries.
Right now I have 3400W of Solar. The Rest of the info is below.

Dallski,
I have 12 / 12V deep cycle batteries for a total of 240Ah of capacity @ 48V nominal. That is kind of an overstatement as you really can't use all of that with Pb chemistry.
So let's call it half of that 120Ah so that gives me 5.7 kW. OK Ok I was a newbie and in some ways still am when I started this "Solar Project".
In an emergency I guess I can pull 10kW out of the Pb bank if I need to.
Hence you see why I am going with Li ion Big Grin  better energy density and less aggravation. Well maybe.

Nothing is wrong with Pb, it is a very established battery chemistry and still used everywhere. Almost all inverters, chargers, and even solar panels are based on Pb.

All I am saying is that you are building a lithium bank with roughly 4x the capacity if your Pb, so it doesn't really make sense to keep the Pb going as it is not compatible with Lithium in parallel.

Also, even though the lithium pack is taking a lot more time than your Pb bank would ever require, you enjoy lithium more because people in general like building things and dont like maintaining things so much.

@ Cherry67
This is the German "wall" i was talking about.
I hope the link works.

Still learning English. Learning Li ion and solar technology.
+/- 1500 Li ion cells harvested, none checked and counting.

Time is our enemy, must work to, the sun is our friend, must relax to.

LOL
Does anybody want to buy my Pb bank in the not to distant future?
It will be for sale then.
Oh I dont know about the time required for Pb lots of maintenance esp. with FC. Distilled water, specific gravity, balance charging, terminal cleaning etc.
Yes I do like building things for sure.
Ah local pickup only bring a truck. Big Grin
