Over a year ago I bought ten ultrafire 18650's from eBay ... the price was so good , and I actually believed the promised rating of 3800mAHrs ... lol ... I never used them , and recently I started to examinethem ..
From the outsidethey all look the same ... but their weight varies , their capacity varies from 500 to 1750 mAHr , and sripping off the plastic rapper it's apparent they're not from the same manufacturer...
Today I found this article ..https://batterybro.com/blogs/18650-wholesale-battery-reviews/18852875-recycled-grade-c-18650-batteries-from-china
Which explains where old laptop batteries go ... shipped off to china where the cells are taken out , and if they "Hold a charge" , are given a new wrapper and sold as new!!
This also explains why powerwall builders have trouble selling dead cells for scrap ... the recyclers are not primarilyafter the lithium , they want the good cells
